Good Morning College Football Fans:

We hit both college football plays on Friday, but the bases and the NFL picks killed the card and we gave a unit back. We can afford it with our 90-unit two month bankroll. :)

I guess The Visionary picked a good time to get hot in college football. Not a lot of time for tips and additional discussion. So, I will get right to the Saturday college football picks. I don't know about you all, but I am pumped to watch some college football today.

The Visionary's Free Football Picks For Friday, 8/29/08 (2 CFB, 2 MLB, 1 NFL)

2008 MLB Baseball Picks Record: 48-37 (+61.50 Units)
2008 NFL Football Picks Record: 18-8 (+30.20 Units)
2008 NCAA Football Picks Record: 1-1 (+1.80 Units)

Hello Sports Betting Enthusiasts:

Well, we hit the big play in Stanford on Thursday night, although it got a little scary there at the end. However, coach Jim Harbaugh's squad looked pretty solid. On the other side, the Beavers are probably in for a long season with that defense. Luckily, Kansas City pushed in the NFL or we would have only picked up about a half of a unit. All and all, a profitable evening.

I know that some of you may not have gotten K.C. at -4 last night. This brings me to my next point. Always shop for lines when betting on NFL & college football. Just last night, shopping for lines means the difference in winning one half of a unit (or 0.6) and picking up four units (or 3.9). Have at least two online sportsbook accounts open even if you have a local guy. Let me suggest BetUS Sportsbook, where you can get an exclusive 100% match-play bonus (from $100 up to $500) by using this link and mentioning The Visionary at sign-up. This is very important in successful handicapping. You think the best gamblers in the world settle for just one line that 'Joe The Bookie' has on the game? Of course they don't, and neither should you. Always shop for lines!

As for Friday's college football picks, our favorite animal is the Owl tonight. We are also playing two baseball games. As for the preseason NFL picks, only one game tonight as we have a small schedule. Go cash these...and make sure you get the best line!

Visionary's Friday Night Free Picks:
Pick: Rice Owls -3.5 (CFB)
Value: 4 Unit Play

Pick: Oakland Raiders +3 (NFL)
Value: 3 Unit Play

Pick: Temple Owls -7 (CFB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -120 (MLB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: San Diego Padres +155 (MLB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

(The Visionary's free sports picks are rated on a 1-5 unit scale)

Good luck & play only the winners tonight!

The Visionary's Thursday Night NCAA Football Football Kickoff Card

2008 MLB Baseball Record: 47-37 (+58.30 Units)
2008 NFL Football Record: 18-7 (+31.30 Units)

Happy College Football Kickoff Thursday!!

College football is finally here!! To tell you the truth, after a 3-1 (+13 unit) Tuesday & a 4-2 (+9.7 unit) Wednesday, I am not too sure that I want to or even should get away from the bases. Last night is another perfect example of why you should not lay the big wood with baseball teams on the road, especially during this time of the year. Take the big home dogs; It's the easiest way to bet like a sharp without doing any research. Sportsbooks & bookies do not like players that just bet big home dogs all time; the reason being that they never make any money from them. That's the second night in a row where we cashed in huge just laying small amounts on big home underdogs.

Enough about the bases, it's college football time!! I spent about 5 hours handicapping the college football schedule for all of the games from Thursday to Sunday. I was surprised by how many games sparked my handicapping interest. However, you have to be careful with your college football picks early in the season. There isn't any preseason or any televised showings where the betting public can get a good feel for these teams before the season starts. One piece of football betting advice that I would like to give you is this; Never base too much of your football betting analysis on what happened last season, especially in college football! Every year the major college football programs (and ever the best NFL teams) change considerably and there is only so much that is going to carry over in the following season. When betting at the beginning of the year, always look for all the major changes in each team compared to last season and do not take these changes lightly. Make sure to factor them into your selections.

Like I said last night, if anyone out there needs any football handicapping, money management, betting, or general advice at all, please feel free to post anything you want in the comments section. I will answer any and all questions. I am here to help. You can consider me your free personal professional sports handicapping service for the upcoming football season. However, unlike the majority of the slime out there that call themselves handicappers (who charge you in order to help you piss your money away), I will direct you to bet smart, the same way that sharps and real expert handicappers bet.

As for the the college football picks tonight, I will be playing one of the big televised ESPN match-ups as this was my favorite play on the NCAA board. I also have one additional NCAA football play. Hoping to continue the hot streak that we have been riding, I have two nice plays in Thursday's NFL preseason action and one move in the bases. Nothing crazy today players. Remember; It's a long football season! Here they are...

Thursday Night Baseball & Football Picks:
Pick: Stanford Cardinals +3 (CFB)
Value: 4 Unit Play

Pick: Kansas City Chiefs -4 (NFL)
Value: 3 Unit Play

Pick: Baylor Bears +12 (CFB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: Washington Nationals +160 (MLB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: New England Patriots +2 (NFL)
Value: 1 Unit Play

(The Visionary's free picks are rated on a 1-5 unit scale)

Enjoy the college football action tonight!!

The Visionary's MLB Baseball Picks For Wednesday; All Dogs Go To Heaven

2008 MLB Baseball Record: 43-35 (+48.60 Units)
2008 NFL Football Record: 18-7 (+31.30 Units)

Happy Football Season Eve:

Man, are we padding the bankrolls in preparation for this football season or what? We picked up another 13 units on Tuesday. There is nothing like hitting big dogs in baseball. I love baseball betting more then any other sport for this exact reason. In no other sport does your handicapping work payoff more then it should, where you can go 3-1 on a regular day and pick up 13 units when only risking 9.

Just 24 hours away from the start of the college football regular season. I will be handicapping college football almost all day today. I am very excited for the college gridiron. However, I am more pumped for NFL then anything. This should be a fun and profitable year. I hope that I have a confident following of my free sports picks after two months. Anyone who has been following my free sports picks since I started this blog has been making money.

I really want to help some bettors make some money this football season. Even more, I want to help prevent some bettors from making foolish bets that end up putting people into holes. I also want to do this completely free of charge for a change. I am here to help. Please post comments if you require any sports betting, money management or general advice all. I have seen it all. I have been in and out the sports handicapping/betting industry for over 15 years and I know what it's all about. I have seen first hand the overwhelming glory and the complete destruction that betting can create and cause. I know a lot more about sports betting and gambling then most people that call themselves handicappers.

Before posting the doggie dog filled baseball card for Wednesday, I highly recommend that you all read my post below on 'Sportsbooks & Inflated Baseball Lines Before Football Season'. This post provides some very good advice and everyone should read it; from the once a week baseball/football player as good advice to remember...to the best handicappers in the world just as a refresher and to help them stay on track... This is advice that the betting public just doesn't have the discipline to follow, but should if he/she ever wants to become a successful sports handicapper.

As for Wednesday's card of underdogs, just because we cashed big last night with a nice card of underdogs, does NOT mean that you should risk anymore then I advised below. We picked up 13 units last night and we are risking 10 on the card below. That means for a $5/per-unit bettor, $65 profit last night and risking $50 tonight.... And, $1300 profit for a $100/per-unit bettor and risking $1000 tonight. Stay disciplined and always use money management. Remember this when heading into football. Here are Wednesday's puppies...

Wednesday, 8/27/08 MLB Picks:

Pick: Boston Red Sox +110 (MLB)
Value: 3 Unit Play

Pick: San Diego Padres +170 (MLB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: Baltimore Orioles +170 (MLB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates +170 (MLB)
Value: 1 Unit Play

Pick: Seattle Mariners +165 (MLB)
Value: 1 Unit Play

Pick: Washington National +160 (MLB)
Value: 1 Unit Play

General Betting Advice For (Pre-Football) Baseball Bettors & Visionary Sports Picks Fans

Adding to what I was saying yesterday; This is that time of the year when bookmakers will make a killing off the general sports betting public. Why? Aside from the fact that football bettors don't have any regular season games in which to measure up the football teams at the beginning of the year, think about this; With football rolling back around, bettors will get antsy to bet on games and there is only preseason football some of the time. Most average bettors are generally impatient. Therefore, players who don't usually play the bases will look to bet on a baseball game or two on days like this where there is no football.

With the playoff races getting closer to the finish, you see more and more ridiculous lines where teams are laying massive chalk on the road. Most of these teams normally wouldn't be laying that much wood on the road if they weren't in the playoff race. There is no way Arizona would be a -190 favorite over San Diego in July. Considering the fact that the sports betting public never regularly bets on baseball underdogs. Joe Public is attracted to baseball favorites like flies are to shit (I know, I'm a class act). So, Mr. 'I never bet on baseball' ends up losing a huge wad right before football even kicks off. This way they are already chasing before the college football regular season even starts. This is what sportsbooks prey on. They want all their players to be chasing...ALL THE TIME. Forumula: Impatient bettors + inflated lines = disaster.

SO, BE CAREFUL!! If you normally don't play the bases and are going to bet some baseball before the football season, don't bet big and look for value underdogs. If you are a regular baseball player and know how to handicap baseball, then you can already see these inflated lines starting to appear across the board. Don't get suckered into these traps. Look for some non-playoff teams who are playing at home and getting an inflated price because they are playing against a team that is barely in the playoff hunt. Bet a few bucks on a few of these, where '1 for 2'...'2 for 4'...and sometimes even '1 of 4' will turn a profit. Don't do something foolish like lay 2 to 1 on a marginally decent team (like the the Diamondbacks) on the road. Even if the play wins, there is no value there and it's the type of play that can put you in a hole. Look for value in every baseball wager. Look for the plays where the public inflates the line. Before you bet a game (especially a baseball game) ask yourself questions like;

  • Does this seem like a sucker bet?
  • Am I risking too much on the wager for not enough reward?
  • Does this seem like a bet that the average bookie would love to take?

If the answer is 'yes' to any of these questions, then you should think twice about making that wager. Not only is this the right way to bet baseball, but it will get you into that winning/grinding/capping mindset heading into football season. If it doesn't feel like you a grinding out profits, then you are not handicapping. It should feel like work. Nothing that makes money is easy, even handicapping. The Visionary reminds you to always play smart and think against the grain when doing your baseball betting, and even your football betting this season. Tuesday's Major League Baseball picks will be posted soon.

The Visionary's Free MLB Picks & Some Baseball Betting Advice to Remember For Tuesday Night!!

2008 MLB Baseball Record: 40-34 (+35.70 Units)
2008 NFL Football Record: 18-7 (+31.30 Units)

Morning Fellow Sports Bettors:

Anyone enjoying making money with The Visionary? I know there are few of you out there that are cashing in on this free picks blog. Another profitable 2-1 (+4.6 unit) day as we nailed our NFL preseason pick in Seattle +5.5 along with one of the two big underdogs (Seattle +180) in the bases on Monday night. As for Tuesday's baseball action, there was quite a few plays that caught my eye, most of them being big underdogs. I had a very difficult time making the final decision on which ones I was going to play today. It took me almost two hours to decide. Here they are...

Oh, one more thing...Do not be afraid to bet these games because they are big dogs. Just because they don't look like sure winners at first glance, doesn't mean they aren't sharp plays. There's value in these plays and this is how money is made in baseball betting. Again, I'm not saying these plays are guaranteed to profit today. I am just saying that there is money-making value in these plays. The reason sportsbooks profit year after year in baseball action is because the betting public normally lays over 2 to 1 on the other side, and regularly goes against these types of smart money, home underdog plays. The betting public actually has the power to give bookies a taste of their own medicine and can potientially beat the books down during baseball season, if only bettors weren't so in love with betting big favorites. Remember this, the next time and every time you go to bet on a baseball game. Think about it eveytime that you do your baseball betting. It's some of the best advice you will ever receive & it will only add money to your wallet. Meanwhile, majority of the advice that is out there today from internet scamdicappers will take money from your wallet (& probably your bank account). Anyway, here are the MLB plays for tonight...

Tuesday, 8/26/08 MLB Picks:

Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -120 (NFL)
Value: 4 Unit Play

Pick: Washington Nationals +160 (MLB)
Value: 3 Unit Play

Pick: Seattle Mariners +150 (MLB)
Value: 1 Unit Play

Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates +190 (MLB)
Value: 1 Unit Play

The Visionary's Winning Free Baseball & NFL Picks For Monday, August 25, 2008

2008 MLB Baseball Record: 39-33 (+34.10 Units)
2008 NFL Football Record: 17-7 (+28.30 Units)

We picked up another unit on Sunday after hitting the total play on the Bills/Colts game. I should of rode the Bills too. That was a mistake. How bad are the Colts without Manning? It's almost laughable. That is also going to be one of the worst rushing defenses in football this season. I have two baseball picks and one nfl preseason play in the Monday Night Football matchup tonight.

Monday, 8/25/08 MLB & NFL Picks:

Pick: Seattle Seahawks +5.5 (NFL)
Value: 3 Unit Play

Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates +170 (MLB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

Pick: Seattle Mariners +180 (MLB)
Value: 2 Unit Play

(The Visionary's free picks are rated on a 1-5 unit scale)
